How to Install ColaStick — 3 Methods

⚠️ Before you pick a method: If you plug the ColaStick directly into your TV's back panel and the remote stops responding, that's normal — your TV's back panel may be blocking the Bluetooth signal. Switch to Method 2 (the recommended method).

Direct Plug-In (Simplest)

Best for: TVs with side-facing or accessible HDMI ports

TV USB port (power) + TV HDMI port (video)

Plug the ColaStick into an open HDMI port on your TV.
Plug the USB-C power cable from the stick into a USB port on your TV.
Switch your TV to that HDMI input and follow the on-screen setup.

⚠️ Note: If the remote becomes unresponsive after plugging into a back panel, switch to Method 2. This is the most common issue and is solved by the extension cable.

With HDMI Extension Cable

✅ Recommended

Best for: Most setups. Keeps the remote signal reliable and the stick physically accessible.

TV HDMI port → HDMI Extension Cable → ColaStick → Power Adapter (wall outlet)

Plug the HDMI extension cable into a TV HDMI port.
Connect the ColaStick to the other end of the extension cable.
Plug the included power adapter into the ColaStick's USB-C port and into the wall.
Switch your TV to that HDMI input and follow the on-screen setup.

✅ This method keeps the stick away from the TV's back panel, ensuring a reliable Bluetooth remote signal. Recommended for most users.

Extension Cable + HDMI Coupler

Best for: TVs with limited HDMI port spacing or unusual port layouts

TV HDMI port → Extension Cable → HDMI Coupler → ColaStick → Power Adapter

Use the included HDMI coupler to bridge the extension cable to the stick when space or port angle is tight.

Initial Setup & First Boot

Connect to TV

Use your chosen installation method above to connect the ColaStick to your TV.

Power On

Connect power (via TV USB or wall adapter). The ColaStick will boot automatically.

Select TV Input

Switch your TV to the correct HDMI input. The ColaStick boot screen appears within 30 seconds.

Pair the Remote

Hold the Home and Back buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode. Follow the on-screen prompt.

Select Language & Region

Choose your preferred language and region.

Connect to Wi-Fi

Select your network and enter your Wi-Fi password. Use the 5GHz band for the most stable experience.

Sign In to Google Account

Sign in with your Google account to access the Play Store and personalized services.

💡 Tip: Enable HDMI-CEC on your TV so you can control TV power and volume with the ColaStick remote alone.

Network & Wi-Fi Connection

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi. Select your network, enter your password, and connect.

📶 5GHz Band

Faster, more stable streaming. Recommended if your router is nearby.

📡 2.4GHz Band

Better range, lower speed. Use if your router is far away.

⚠️ Note: For 4K HDR streaming, a minimum of 25 Mbps download speed is recommended.

🏨 Hotel / Travel Tip: ColaStick works on hotel Wi-Fi networks. If the hotel uses a browser-based login page, use the included wireless keyboard to complete the login temporarily.

Installing & Managing Apps

The ColaStick V1 Plus runs Android 14 with full Google Play Store access. All major streaming apps are pre-installed out of the box.

📦 Google Play Store

Open Google Play Store from the home screen.
Search for the app you want (e.g., Plex, Kodi, VLC).
Select Install.

🔧 Sideload APKs (Advanced)

Enable Unknown Sources in Settings → Security.
Transfer the APK via USB or download via browser.
Use a file manager to locate and install the APK.

Bluetooth Headphones — Private Viewing Mode

ColaStick V1 Plus supports Bluetooth 5.0. Connect wireless headphones for late-night watching or private viewing without disturbing others.

How to Connect

Go to Settings → Remote & Accessories → Add Accessory.
Put your Bluetooth headphones in pairing mode.
Select them from the list and confirm pairing.

Reconnecting Each Session

After initial pairing, your headphones are remembered by the device. Each session, reconnect with 2 taps in Settings → Remote & Accessories.

⚠️ Note: Auto-reconnect is not supported due to TV Bluetooth protocol limitations — a quick manual connection (~10 seconds) is needed at the start of each session. This is the same behavior as most Android TV devices.

Storage & Memory Management

The ColaStick V1 Plus has 32GB internal storage, sufficient for all pre-installed apps and most user-installed apps. Go to Settings → Device Preferences → Storage to view usage.

Free Up Space

Clear app caches: Settings → Apps → [App] → Clear Cache
Uninstall unused apps to reclaim storage

FAQ & Troubleshooting

FAQMy remote stopped working after I plugged in the stick

Your TV's back panel likely has a metal shield that blocks Bluetooth signals. Fix: Use the included HDMI extension cable to pull the stick away from the back panel (Method 2). This solves the problem in most cases.

FAQThe device seems unstable or keeps restarting

Your TV's USB port may not supply enough current. Fix: Switch to the included DC 5V/2A power adapter plugged into a wall outlet for stable, reliable power.

FAQNo signal on TV

Make sure the TV is set to the correct HDMI input. Try a different HDMI port or cable. Confirm the device is powered (LED lit).

FAQWi-Fi keeps dropping

Switch to the 5GHz band, move your router closer to the TV, or restart your router and the ColaStick.

FAQApp crashes or freezes

Go to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Clear Cache. If the issue continues, uninstall and reinstall the app.

FAQ4K content not playing in 4K

Check that your TV supports 4K, you are using an HDMI 2.0 cable (included in the box), and your streaming subscription includes 4K content.

FAQHow do I factory reset?

Go to Settings → Device Preferences → Reset → Factory Reset. This erases all data and restores factory defaults. Use only as a last resort.

FAQCan I use ColaStick on a projector?

Yes. ColaStick V1 Plus works with any HDMI-equipped display — TVs, projectors, monitors, and more.
